Hong Kong | Full-Time | Hybrid (HK office + China factory travel)
The role in one line: Run the day-to-day execution of our product development pipeline, working hands-on with Chinese suppliers to deliver better products faster across our DTC brand portfolio.
About us
We're Hustl Ecommerce, a Hong Kong-headquartered group running a portfolio of direct-to-consumer brands sold globally. Our flagship brand processes 460,000+ orders annually in the decorative lighting category, shipping from China to customers across the US, UK, Europe, and Australia. We're also building newer brands in home tech, supplements, and AI software.
We move fast. Our edge is rapid product iteration, strong creative, and deep supplier relationships across mainland China.
What you'll do:
- Coordinate sampling rounds end-to-end: brief suppliers, track samples, log feedback, manage iterations
- Conduct factory visits across Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Fujian (typically fortnightly)
- Run pre-production, in-line, and pre-shipment QC inspections, either personally or via QC partners
- Maintain supplier scorecards, sample trackers, and product specification documents
- Follow up daily with Chinese suppliers on production timelines, pricing updates, and issue resolution
- Support the Sourcing & Product Development Manager on new product scouting and competitor teardowns
- Manage Alibaba and 1688 sourcing inquiries and shortlist new supplier candidates
- Coordinate logistics handovers with our freight forwarders and Yunexpress
- Report key metrics weekly: samples in flight, supplier issues, on-time delivery, QC pass rates
Who you are:
- 2 to 5 years experience in product development, sourcing, or merchandising at a DTC brand, trading company, or sourcing office
- Native or near-native Mandarin (written and spoken). Cantonese is a plus
- Fluent business English, written and spoken
- Comfortable in factories. You can read a tech pack, spot quality issues, and follow up with suppliers professionally
- Detail-obsessed and process-driven. You don't drop balls
- Proactive communicator. You flag issues early and propose solutions, not just problems
- Based in Hong Kong with a valid right to work, or prepared to relocate before start date
- Willing to travel into mainland China regularly (1-2 trips per fortnight). Valid travel documents required
Bonus points:
- Experience with consumer hardgoods, lighting, electronics, home goods, or supplements
- Familiarity with Alibaba, 1688, Made-in-China, and Canton Fair sourcing workflows
- Knowledge of compliance certifications (FCC, CE, RoHS, ETL)
- Experience with shipping, freight forwarding, and incoterms
- Prior work at a DTC ecommerce brand (not just traditional retail or wholesale)
What we offer:
- Direct working relationship with the founders and senior team. No corporate layers
- Real ownership of supplier relationships and category outcomes from day one
- Clear progression path to Assistant Manager and Manager roles as the team grows
- Travel covered for factory visits and trade shows (Canton Fair, HKTDC)
- MPF and statutory benefits per HK employment law
What you'll own
- Own meaningful surface area of the business - you are measured on outcomes, not tasks.
- Ship weekly. Collaborate async. Over-communicate context.
- Partner closely with leadership across product, growth, and operations.
- Raise the bar on craft, velocity, and taste for everyone around you.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of experience shipping products in a fast-moving environment.
- A written portfolio - examples of decisions you made and outcomes they drove.
- Comfort with async written communication and self-directed work.
- Drive to operate at a very high standard without being asked.
Nice to have
- Prior experience at a small ecommerce or consumer-product team.
- Experience building in public or running a side project.
- Comfort using AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Linear AI, etc.) as daily drivers.
How we hire
- A short written application - we read every one.
- An intro call with a member of the hiring team.
- A short trial task reflecting the actual work.
- A final conversation with leadership. Offer within 48 hours.
